Bangai Cardinals (high fin)

I bought 3 of these from different places over the past couple months and all were healthy and all died-straved-in about 2 weeks. They would not eat any food I gave them except live brine fish which is not enough to keep a fish alive. They would jump at all food and just spit it out.
Anyone have any luck at getting these guys to eat.

I have 2. I think they were tank bred. Mine like to eat frozen mysis but they do eat the pellets

I had no luck in the last three months either, basiab. I just can't afford tank-bred right now. it is 3 times the cost, but it is the right thing to do. i just have to save up for them.

I know you guys are talking about the Bangaii's, but I just bought two tank raised Pajama Cardinal's for $17 dollars each and they are doing great... I feed my tank clams and mysis and twice a week I throw in pellets and they eat everything...if your interested the store was Caribbean Blue Aquatics in BayShore and they had a bunch of them...goodluck

Tank bred is really the ONLY way to go with these fish. They are extremely threatened and wild populations are thinning. Well worth the slight price increase. Especially because they tend to be hardier than wild-caught.

+1 I agree. Mine would eat frozen Mysis but then stopped an died. Tank raised only.

Last week over at Pet Place II in Nanuet (Rockland County) they had a whole bunch of them. I got my 2 from them months ago and they're doing pretty good so far.

Mine I have had for over a year and eats everything from pellets, flake, to mysis. Tank bred all the way

I find them a bit more expensive than most LFS's out there, but I like the fact that each tank is a separate tank (ie separate water/filters) and they guarantee the fish as well.

They also mark on the tank when they got them so you know how long they've been in there.

I stopped by there on Saturday. Nice store. I was too cheap to buy them. After I got home, I regretted not buying them, so I spent all Sunday driving around and got some at Absolutely Fish (for the same price + tolls + time + gas!):letitallo:letitallo
