Cleaner wrasse

Anyone have luck keeping them for long term? what is the trick because I love this fish

They always go MIA after a couple of weeks with no sign of them... I think all my fish must beat him to death when lights go out because I know some fish hate him when he does his job to the fish

There are different types of cleaner wrasses..I have a Red Sea Cleaner wrasse and have had him for ...4 years easily.

ohhh..you mean that is what you just lost...sorry about that!
Yes, most of the fish in that tank are wrasses, they all get along just fine

Just have to get the right fish, like others that are tough to keep, like moorish idols, regals, and on and on, had one for 3 years, a couple others for 9 months or so, seem better when there are lots of tangs around, mine ate mysis, and pellets, makes a big difference.

I have mine with velvet, flame, mystery, melanarus, and another fairy wrasse
and he eats pellets, flakes, and mysis

Did yours ever get to eat dry food or mysis? Once they do that, they should be OK. If they rely on food on fish host, you need a tank full of parasites. LOL

they all eat mysis right away and even pellets...just strange....
i even put the last one in a seprate tank off my system with just a foxface and a tang

Have a common blue streak cleaner wrasse that I've had for well over 3 years in a tank with other wrasses, tangs, etc. even kept it in an open top for a long time and it didn't jump. The trick really is getting them to eat frozen, as well as your fish accepting them. I also think its important for them to be in larger tanks with a variety of fish. My Foxface HATES my cleaner wrasse and the PJ's and Coral Beauty don't care much for him either and I don't think he'd do as well if all my fish were that way. Luckily my tangs love him.
