About 2 years ago a Mystery Wrasse I had went missing. I have a screen on top of the tank so I figured that it must jumped into the over flow. I check the over flow, and even the sump beneath, but didn't see it. At that point I thought that it probably either jump out, when I didn't have the screen on, or some how got through the screen and made it to the floor. I couldn't find it on the floor but a lot of times its common not to find a fish that jumps out. At that point I brought another one and have had it for quite some time now. Today I was walking by my tank and saw in the return section of my sump my Mystery Wrasse swimming around. I couldn't figure out how it got into the sump, as I have the screen covering up the overflow, so I looked into the tank and saw my Mystery Wrasse swimming around. So it seems that the original Mystery Wrasse must have either been in the over flow or the sump for about 2 years. Now I have 2 fairly large Mystery Wrasse, which probably wouldn't get along together in my 90gal reef tank, but at least I still have both.

wow nice story. the most incredible part of the story is that your wrasses was surviving on the overflow for 2 years now. Hope i on day get to the same thing about my rod onyx clownfish. i had him for 5 months and i one it went missing. it didn't jump out my jump or nothing because i checked the floor first. so hopefully he comes back to me.

Awesome Story

You never cleaned out the sump/pump? thats a great story of survival, I once lost a timinicki wrasse and found him a couple weeks later inside the overflow, did a rescue mission and placed him in the DT, a few weeks later he went missing and I figured he was in the overflow again since I have a canopy. However this time he was on the floor behind the sump. :supermad:

I feed pellets, which a lot don't sink and get sucked into the over flow, that and my over flow has a lot of pods and bristle worms to eat makes for a pretty good food supply. It must have been in there and then went down the drain into the sump. I was doing a water change and when the return pump is turned off the water level rises over the baffles, which makes it easy for things to swim over them into the other compartments. Now I need to figure out what to do with him, as I can't put him in the tank with the other Mystery Wrasse and I have a number of wrasse in my other tank, so he's probably going to sit in my sump for a while.
