I've never kept them but IIRC correctly they need a min 7' (ish) inch sandbed, are not easy to feed to start off, live in groups, and most people kill them. Best left in the ocean.
Yup they had one that looked healthy but he was not I'n his hole that's reason I didn't get him!
5x5" is the surface area of sanded I have it's 4-5" deep !
Im gonna pass but if anyone has right setup for this guy he's pretty sweet!
Yea seen this guy to.
Want to build up a terraced area to get a deep enough bed maybe 6-8 inches deep and see what I can do with one of these. But I wont have anything in time for this one.
There is a very shallow bed on those tanks.
There was two or three originally not sure what happened to the others.
Rocco said they were following food and last time he said they were eating.
I have 6 of them, and they are doing good, a little hard to keep them feed because they will only move up and down in there hole with out leaving there hole. You have to direct food there way or they will starve. How much are they selling for at that fish store?
They are asking a little under 30.
Going to hammer you with some questions.
How deep is your substrate?
How often do you feed them?
What do you feed them?
Can they go a day without food?
Matt, I wouldn't even attempt them in your tank. Way too small and not enough room for them to really pick a good spot. I know people with much larger tanks with deep open sand and they still have a hard time keeping them alive. It's not that I don't think you would put the time into them it's just that you don't have the setup.
tank size doesnt matter, sand bed does. at least 5" deep, once they find a spot they most likey will stay there. They eat mysis brine ect, treat them just like any other fish when it comes to feeding, just when you feed put some food up top in your water column so your open swimming fish go to that spot, then direct some food down to where the els are so they can eat
