I know its a tough fish to keep but i do see some of you guys on here with a regal angel or two
been reading for a while and ive had the itch to try for like months but still doing more research
I got a 210 mixed reef with tons of rock. a bunch of anthias, fairy wrasses, hippo, kole, pseudo, pbt,
got a few questions :

1. to quarantine or not ?
( I have a 55 with pvc and few live rock pieces runny for like 2 months with a chromis and just finished quarantining a powder blue)
2. just quarantine or treat with copper? or hyposaline ?
3. any places to get one locally with good luck?

sorry for the long post
any advice would be appreciated

Always Qt, don't add copper unless you need to
Try some venders on here before a lfs since hard to find
+1
definitely QT...at least, to make sure it gets food...only buy one that you can see is eating at the LFS

Maximum Reefs in Mt Vernon, usually has Indo and Red Sea Regals in stock, that are eating.

I kept a Regal Angel for quite sometime till my stupid tank crashed... He was Qt'd for 2 weeks then I got him. He came straight from a pre order. The thing you'll notice about these fish is that they are slow to warm up to you and can be skittish when feeding initially.

I had to train mine to take pellets. I started with Arctipods-> Frozen Mysis/cyclopeeze->cyclopeeze/pellets>pellets (formula one). I kept him for nearly a year and a half and I'm pretty sure had my tank not crashed I would've had him for a while. Anyway, make sure his gills don't get caught on the net when transferring. I used a bag and my hand to transfer. Also try and introduce him at night so there's less stress.

Good luck! I love this fish but after losing mine it's gonna take me time to go for it again.

Bob,
Not too many Red Sea variations come in anymore but the Sumatra species are identical with the orange belly vs the Indonesian variant.
One thing I'm sure your aware of since you had a Majestic before, not entirely "reef friendly". Will probably go after zoos, acans :)

HAHA
that was my first big lesson in reef keeping
you were one of the first guys i met here
thanks for all the advice
i never saw your totm post
that tank is incredible
i think if i could get one to do well i will probably get rid of my zoas and softies and change to mostly sps
