Yeah, they will try to clean the fish. I used to have one that would try to clean my arm, and ends up ripping the hair off my arm (guess it thought its a parasite). My current ones don't do that, but they go on my tangs all the time. They also love to eat mysis and hang upside down on crevices.

I wouldn't get it as a treatment for ich. The ich seems to be too small for them to see.

Also, I'm not too sure they would stress out a fish. They seem to only clean the fish that want to be cleaned. The fish have to go to the goby to be cleaned, the goby doesn't usually venture out of his cleaning "station" area unless he sees mysis or other foods available in the water.

Also, I have seen the goby pick at something on a tang, then tang got angry and chased him, but no visual damage I see. That's only after the tang was going right up to the cleaner and begging to be cleaned.

I bought 4 and ended up with one.
They dont live very long.
They look like they nip a little too hard sometimes but my fish still approach them to get cleaned.
Once I added these, my fish realized my cleaner shrimp would do the same service so they started letting him clean them also.

Pretty cool fish.

I've had mine for about 4-5 months now. He's a pretty tough little dude. He gets chased all the time by my foxface because he's always jumping on the foxface and riding him like a bull. Whenever I put my hand in the tank, he comes to clean me and it freaks me out. I think he's a bit more enthusiastic about cleaning than the fish are. It's funny because the fish are all lining up to get cleaned by my cleaner shrimp who will have none of it. But the fish won't let the cleaner goby touch them. Maybe he's just too rough.

Overall, he's colorful and he's always sitting on the glass like a pleco. When I got him I thought he was going to hang out in a cave but nope, he's always out in the open. He is really fat now.
