crab shell

i found an empty crab shell in my tank. How would i know if he died or just molted? Thank you.

If it's empty either he molted or you have a naked crab running around the tank.

if u found a empty shell-it either means the crab is dead or it change to another shell. do you have extra shells around?

Hopefully its a girl crab lol. It was empty.

Yea that would have been the smart thing to do but i broke trying to make shore it was empty.

What's the difference if he posts pics of the shell? Either way it's really not a big deal..if it's dead it's dead if not then it's in another shell. If you have a lot of hermits make sure you have a bunch of shells around because if not they will DESTROY your snails to take their shells. If you ever come to queens I can give you a bunch of extra shells to throw in I got a bunch.

Its not a hermit crab it was a porcelain crab.

ok well that's different I think others were also under the impression you were referring to a hermit. Well if it looks very thin and clear-ish then it molted just like a snake shedding it's skin.

yea i should have posted that first. the the main part of the body was clearish but the claws really weren't.
