six line wrasse being a bully

My six line wrasse just snatched one of my sexy anemone shrimp and ate it! I'm so upset. When I researched the compatibility it said the wrasse could be kept with invertebrates with caution. Is there anything I can do to protect the rest of my shrimp? Will the wrasse likely go after my larger shrimp and/or snails too?

People usually get a 6 line wrasses when they have bristle worm problems. It problly ate the shrimp do to beeing hungrey IMO.

No bristle worm problem, just liked the way it looked. Perhaps I'll try feeding it more.

As far as I have seen, six line is always a bully. You see complains about them in all forums all the time.

Remember you dont want to over feed your fish.

Absolutely...probably the 'most regretted' fish purchase...get rid of it

Eating a small ornamental shrimp isn't being a bully. That's what most wrasses do, IME. The bigger the wrasse, the bigger the shrimp it will eat. If he's chasing around your other fish, that's being a bully. A 6 line should be the last fish you add, and all other fish should be well established before adding the 6 line.

If you have more small shrimp, they're in danger. Remove the shrimp or the fish (you'll have to trap the 6 line, they're fast and smart). Larger shrimp, like cleaners, peppermint, CBS should be safe with the 6 line.

I agree with the above posts. I have a large six-line, had it for many years, it's great for eating any pests, but the draw back is they are territorial and will attack most new fish especially with the same markings or body shape....also all shrimps are on the menu. It sometimes tries to get the small hermits and snails, but they have learned to be nocternal.....

they are very big bullies for their small size ....my 6 line bullied my fire fish to death ... and i have no idea how to get the 6 line out
