I am debating on Vortech vs. Tunze on a new build, 70g 30x30x18 mixed reef tank, may end up all sps, but currently not counting on that. Was going to go with the Vortech mp40, but am now thinking of the Tunze with nano stream pumps, and multi controller. I would like some feedback on this, additionally are the vortechs much louder than the tunze, as this will be in a work office environment. And if Tunze, suggested pump type, size, etc.
Thanksl.

While the Vortech is louder IMO it's not that much louder, in an office you may not hear it unless you have a very quite office or the pump slips off center. I like the Tunzes a little more because you can change the angle and flow direction to pick up dead spots better they will cost more than a single MP40 or 2 MP10s.

I literally can't tell when the tunze nanostreams are on unless I put my ear literally on the glass to listen for the vibrations.
A vortech, even on lowest setting, you'll hear the rumbling a few feet away. Not so noticeable if you're listening to music or watching tv though.

Although, I believe a vortech doesn't need to be angled like a tunze because the flow is so much wider and has the undertow pull from around it. I've tried the 6045 nanostream and it feels so much weaker then the vortech regardless. i believe the controllable ones might be stronger though.

These are just my opinions of Pro/cons of each from my experience

My Vortechs were loudish when I got them, but now I can't really hear them. And compared to the footprint size, Every Tunze i have seen take up a lot more space, compared to the vortech footprint

I have a a 70G cube exact same dimensions as yours. I found that one Vortech MP40 was enough flow to cover the whole tank. At first it was a bit loud but like others have said once the break in period is over the pump becomes much quieter and you probably won't notice it.

I'd do a mp40, I got rid of my tunze due to the large real estate it took up in the tank. Also I like not having the wire inside the tank, considering this is in an office I think the mp40 would provide better visuals than a huge powerhead sitting on magnets.
