Everything is going fine at this point except for two issues I am experiencing. I'm hoping you guys can help me out.

My sump is located in the unfinished side of my basement which stays at basically a constant 63-65 degrees year round. The tank is in the finished section on the opposite side of the wall from the sump. I currently have no heater running and my lights have been off for 12 hours yet the tank temp is sitting at 84 degrees. ?? I am running a Triton4 in-sump pump and I am starting to wonder if it's heating the water up that much? The skimmer has not been running the past 12 hours so the 4 is the only pump running in the sump.

My other question is I am running a BM NAC5. I understand that running a skimmer at this point will really do nothing but wanted to get it all setup. The issue I am having is the stupid thing will not stop overflowing. Even with the valve closed it just spews foam. I have run it between 8-10 inches of water depth with the same outcome. At 8" it took about 45 mintues for it to reach the collection cup but will not stop. Could it be the amount of "Dust" still in the water? Any ideas what it could be? Should I just leave it off for a few more days and let everything settle in?

Thanks for any help!

How are monitoring your temp in the water? Via a probe? If that is the case make sure it is calibrated correctly, as for the skimmer I always run my skimmer from day 1 it helps speed up the cycle process. Also the temp probe should not be placed near the pump. The skimmer is just overflowing with water no foam is that correct? During the break-in period you are sapose to run the skimmer with the valve completely open and then slowly closing it down to raise the water volume in the skimmer. As for the height in the sump there should be a recommended water height for it to sit in. I'll see if I can find that for you. Try those thing first.

I am running a Triton4 ? internal or external, and that skimmer is suppose to be in 7-8" and it might be doing it since how you did the foam wall, probably pulling the junk

Thanks guys. The temp was measured with a Fluke MM and digital probe that was recently calibrated at work so I'm pretty sure it's dead nuts on. I took readings from the skimmer section, return section, fuge and tank itself. The skimmer is flooding a mix of foam and water. I meant it is running wide-open so that the water level is at it's lowest.

I thought about the rock wall but the foam is sealed, the epoxy is inert and it was cured/dry for at least a week before adding water. Could be the issue just not 100% convinced.

Thanks again!

The skimmer needs to break in. Make sure its between 7-8 inches of water and let ordinary its thing. Now we need to figure out the temp. Issue. What r you usin to heat the water. Make sure that is set right. And that its not stuck on.

Well thanks to you guys the skimmer is now working. I double checked my measurements and I was off by about 2.5" Skimmer was sitting in almost 11 inches of water:banghead: Quickly cut some 2" x 2.5" PVC spacers and it's working nicely and MUCH more adjustable. You guys are the best!

Cam that's the funny thing. I pulled the heater out last night to see if the tank temp would drop. Needless to say it hasn't. Only thing I think it could be is the pump.

feel your pump. bet thats where alot of the heat is coming from, let the skimmer cup fill and empty it, if it keeps overflowing, what ever it is trying to pull out keeps overflowing back into the system and will continue to cause it to overflow

*Update*

The skimmer is working good now. Still foaming a lot but more controllable. The tank is still sitting at 84 degrees though. The pump body is slightly warmer than the sump water so it has to be the pump.

I'm thinking a 1262 ($$) or a Mag 9.5. Any other ones I should look at in the 800-1000 gph range? Internal at this point.

No it's not weird....I'M AN A**HOLE Lol. When I grabbed the probe for the meter we have 2 different sets. One has a 8 degree offset for testing purposes...Guess which one I grabbed? DUH! Just checked it with my IR and came up with 75.7. Now I know why the ehater was running when the other thermometer showed 84.
