Saltwater Critters used the ACAN Lighting over our tank at the spring swap too. I also find it offensive that referring to something being Chinese made infers inferior quality.....and I'm NOT Chinese. This thread is heading down a real bad road mods...........

Really did you look in to what type of led are used what ballest are they using look is deceiving its the parts thay use all of you should now with alot of theys chinese leds that been out . Yeah it look well made on the out side but how long it is going to last.

WHAT?? This discussion would be SO MUCH easier if you had a basic grasp of grammar and English. I mean no offense but seriously. Your sentences are next to impossible to comprehend.

I spent almost 45 minutes at the swap speaking with the ACAN guys and looking at the fixture close up, hands on. If these are made in China they are some of the nicest products I have seen. These are QUALITY fixtures. From the materials to the programming they are impressive to say the least and THE fixture I would choose if I were going LED's. Have you seen one in person? Played with the programming? Seen the light output and color? If you haven't than I see you only jumping to conclusions that are ill researched and quite honestly, a simple case of **** stirring because your bored.

Are there more than a few products coming from the far east that are less than spectacular quality wise? Yep. But to pass judgement without having done any of the above is assumptive and naive really.

All in all, the buyer of any product holds the responsibility to properly research a product before. An educated consumer is a good consumer. Of you are considering buying anything you need to know what you are buying. If you choose not to research properly then if the product purchased is not to your liking then you are responsible for that choice.

They don't try to hide the fact it is made by eco lamps it says it on the fixture and the light. It is a really nice light..a bit pricey compared to some others but over all a great fixture and fully programmable. The fact that they are located in NY is a huge plus. I had one of their first models and the ballast went bad. I called them up and they replaced it. It took a month or so but they replaced it with the newer model of the fixture and one of their reps even came to my house to pick up the broken one. There is something about the way it's made that just wows you. My 82w fixture looks better and is brighter than some 120w fixtures I have seen.

Oh and as far as being chinese made..isn't everything? LOL The only thing we make here in the US is GM cars, some guns and babies.

CREE does have a factory in China and is mainly making the high brightness version of the CREE chips. BridgeLux in Silicon Valley(USA) licensed by CREE produces the lower brightness of the Cree technology. There is no revelation in which country makes bad/good products, the company should be the determining factor.

And I think the good look itself is very important too. I am dying to get my products look as good as Acan Light.

Just FYI, James told me directly that the whites are Cree XPG's (which is very good and what I used on my DIY). I can't quote which make or model because I don't remember, but its the ones which were used on vendors tanks in the Fall 2010 Swap.

It seems any negative comment is based on speculation, without any proof, so unless any proof arises, I have no reason to continue commenting.
(Being made from a chinese based land is NOT a negative thing, sorry but I'm proud of my heritage :))

Look there are no cree leds used in the fixture all led are 1 to 1.5w led Xpg are 3w If you try to add the wattage up there no way it have Xpg in there fixture.

Just found this i guess he lied to you .

The A103 will have a 75 degree angle lens for better spread and a redesigned controller that will allow for customization of the intensity of both the blue and white LEDs. The LEDs are supposed to be similar to the Cree XP-G.
