Proper skimmer setting?

Hey all i just set up my skimmer, its a red sea berlin triple chamber or whatever. I had the air-mixture set so that the top of the bubbles juuust barely reach the point where everything spills over. Every few seconds it surges a tiny bit and forces some foam over the edge. This sound right? Thanks!!

Thats going to give you more of a wet skim. If you dial the air down a little and have the bubbles stop at the neck, you will get more of a dry skim. The difference between the two is with a dry skim its going to be darker and more solid. Thats what most people use. A wet skim is going to be more watery and you'll have to empty the cup more often.

nope, dial it down further and leave for a day or so to let it settle in, then make one small adjustment each day till you have it where you want, how long has the skimmer been running ?

do you have a check valve in ur plumbing? im kinda nervous of u overflowing if the power cut off,also rick is it good to have it that deep in water?(skimmer)

No check valve. Actually, i installed an emergency resevoir for just such an occasion.
