Just bought a used Oceanic biocube. Turns out the fan "up"grade is more down than up. Fans dont work. Powersource and wiring seem to be okay. So i guess the fans just blew? Anyone else see that happen? Maybe 1-2 yrs old?

Went back to seller who directed me to Nanotuners where he got the "upgraded" fans. Everglow 60x60x10. Bascially $10 each.

So for $30 ($10 shipping) i can get 2 new fans and see if they work.

Just hate idea of paying for fans and then finding out they dont work.

Any cubers have local fan source? (I'm in CT) Wanna tell me not to bother with fans cuz they're not worth it?

Oh...also....it looks like the seller had installed the fans in opposite direction. He seemed like reasonably smart guy so i'm guessing he did it to create air flow? One side draws and the other side exhausts?

Thanks...chase

Chase, I'll see if I still have my fans from my LED retrofit today...I ripped my hood apart and should still have the parts. If I do, they're yours.

The flow makes sense, for a PC. Personally I wouldn't run the flow that way, that'll just add heat to your water surface. I would have it extract away from tank, but that's my opinion.

Got the new fans and am about to install.

So now thinking about the direction of the air flow. Previous owner had 1 side drawing in and the other pushing out.

As i look at the canopy, the fans are located inside the light cover so not sure they'll do much good when the lights are turned off. Will probably put them on the same power source / timer as the lights.

So Widdy's idea may be bestest that both fans should draw warm air and push it out.

But wondered if anyone else had any theories.

Thanks

Any other thoughts?
