250W pendant mounting question..

I am looking to mount a 250W pendant where you see it in the picture. I am wondering if it can be flush mounted to the soffit or should I use 1/2" spacers? I plan on a canopy w 2 fans in the soffit pulling the hot air into the unfinished basement behind the wall the tank is on. Any thoughts?

Alrighty than... This ain't as they say gonna cut it. Can't get the light high enough and dont want to cut the brace so..... Like my underwear I am changing lighting plans AGAIN! UGH.....
