I would think 3 at the most but you could probably get away with 2. Certainly not the 8 that was mentioned on Reef Central Lol

Yea 2 for starters if u felt u had some dead spots than I would line up 3

I have 8 over my tank 15" above water line at the moment. It is 10' x 31 x 30. If I were you I would get the A/I rail, controller, and get two units. The rail makes the units very easy to play with. You may be okay with two units depending on your mounting height. You will definitely have enough power to mount these lights as heigh as needed. In the future if you need a third just slide it right in the rail.

2 mounted parallel will give you dark areas in the front/back. These modules work best when mounted perpendicular with 24" wide tanks.

I have 2 mounted long ways over my 40 breeder. My brother has two mounted over a 60" tank. He switched out to all 70 optics. I would say go with two for now and then see how it is.

Not if you hang them the way they are suppose to be hung. If you wanna save some money and try mounting them the other way you might be fine with two. I can get a pic tomorrow of the way mine are hung.

that would be great thanks i was gonna mount them long ways because of the center brace im gonna use one rail to mount them and then build some type of a bracket to hold it all together i have seen other builds and it doesnt seem to hard

Ok thats exactly what I did but used my existing fixture tree I made for my T5 fixture to mount the steel cable to.

swet im gonna start a thread when i get everything here i ran 2 dedicated circuits to where the tank is going just waiting on the lights when they get here im going to start cutting the hole in the wall cant wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also they sell the optical lense for the 4 center lights that give you better coverage and I think that my help u out a bit and they are under 30 bucks. But I would just go with the 3rd unit , they are worth it
