Been researching skimmers and have narrowed it down to 3:

Bubble Magus NAC7
Reef Octopus SRO 1000INT
SWC 160

System will be ~90 gallon total water volume
Looking for a quiet but efficient skimmer

What does everyone think the best choice for the new system would be?
Any other better options in the ~$200-$300 price range?

haha I was wondering if you would chime in!

I'm have been forum slutting this thread around and thought I'd leave the opinions of the local reefers as the final say LOL. I was initially set on the BM NAC7 and if I got a few other people confirming this I would be set with it. However! One forum had a consensus RO or SWC 160 and the other had a consensus of just SWC 160.

Confused I am.

I think you should explain a little more on what your trying to pull off with it, and then maybe PM nyreefnoob. He really is the skimmer freak. He will guide you in the ring way with it.

My vision of the tank is SPS in the top half mixed with LPS, zoas & rics throughout. A clam or 2 on the bottom. A heavier bioload, but by no means overloaded. Water changes will be every 1-1.5 weeks like I'm currently doing (however summertime caused a slacking waterchange schedule). The tank will not be SPS dominated but I will have a good amount in there.

About 100 lbs of rock throughout the display and sump.

sump is a 45 gal marineland cube (24" x 24" x 18"). fuge will be as big as possible and I'm shooting for about half maybe a little less. will have carbon and phos reactors (LOOK FOR THE THREAD ASKING FOR REACTOR OPINIONS LOL!!!!) and this skimmer.

I am not sure what other info I should share with you guys but if there is other pertinent info you need let me know.

Also what is the difference between the Reef Octopus- SRO 1000INT and the Reef Octopus SRO XP 1000SSS besides footprint? the SSS looks like it has a bigger cone section. Are either of them superior or is it mainly for space issues?

the int has the pump external of the body, the sss is the super space saver and has the pump inside the skimmer body which will have less back pressure on the pump, be prepared with the bubble blaster pump to have a slight hum to it, seems a 50\50 of getting a pump that makes noise or doesnt, the one great thing with the bb pumps is it has a 3 year warranty

Uh oh what type of hum lol. I will have 2 MP10's on the tank and the one I have not (that will be in the new tank) makes a pretty loud hum/vibration so I am hoping any hum from those will out-hum the skimmer.
