metal halide question

i found a 36 inch 250W 14k metal halide for a really good price, and i was wondering would 250W be to much for a 30 gallon aquarium that is only 16 inches in height? i do plan on keeping sps and lps corals.

i wouls go with t5 i do use metal halide my self with my 120 gallon! but 30 gallon a 250 watts would have to take in consideration temperature of water!! but yes enough!
