my reactor is leaking from the top, where it screws on to chamber. Ive made sure its hand tight, still leaking. is it broken for good or will a strip of plumbers tape help out?

There's an O-Ring there. Did you buy it used? It's not your typical O-Ring. It's more of a plastic thin strip that's in the shape of an O. Very thin, under the cap. Make sure it's there. If you bought it new, and it's there, with the o-ring, may be defective.

Mine has the o-ring and the thin strip.

Any online vendor will/should have it. Check the vendors here. Gotham Aquatics should have them. If not, just get it from Marine Depot.
