i dont use it but i do know what they are about i would do two seperate units to get themost out of each reactor carbon/ gfo use one pump and spilt it this way u can adjust it to have the right amount of flow going to each if you run them as one unit i can see how the sec chamber wouldnt be used to its full capability meaning the way you have to have the media in a slight tumble i think brs on their site even mentions something to this nature check it out i will tell you their gfo is good stuff i recently switched to them and i really happy with their media just my opinion of course let me know if this helps or if u find out any othere info i might be interested in thanks
I have the brs reactor, 2 seperate units. One for gfo the other for carbon. I like it alot, water in my tank is clear and good to know water is actuall running through the media.
i have the dual reactor. its fine if you just want to run a lot of carbon, but i could never get the thing to really work right with gfo and carbon in it. also the insides of mine would gunk up and you couldnt really see what was going on.
I took a small piece of acrylic and shaped it into a circle that fits in the reactor. Cut a hole in the middle to accept the return tube. Then "swiss-cheesed" the rest of the circular plate. Took two small scraps of acrylic and carzy glued them half-way up the return tube to act as stops for the new plate. Slid the plate I made over the tube and insterted a replacement sponge. I run GFO in the bottom half and carbon in the upper half.
Not the answer you're looking for, but to me those BRS reactors are beastly huge. I can't see anyone running that much carbon/gfo at one time unless it's a jumbo settup.
Ive had the dual reactor for about a month and found that my phosphates and nitrates have significantly dropped to almost 0. It is hard to see the media at times and I find that I have to adjust the flow rate every couple of days, but since i am always adjusting things anyways, that's not such a big deal for me. Also did not have room for two separate reactors. Overall it was a reasonably inexpensive way to add two reactors to see if they really make a difference which they do.

I had the Dual BRS reactor and it worked fine the only problem you can only run 2 cups of GFO anything more and you will have problems with it tumbling. If you have a large system I would look elsewhere. I switched to two nextreef MR1 reactors which hold a lot more media and are crystal clear where as the media holder in the BRS unit discolored making it difficult to see the GFO.
