I am looking for something light a track, that I can hang my current nova pro 48 inch light from. The reason, is that I can hang it today, and sometimes light has to move. Not a good measurer, so looking for something, that I can move the parts that hang from ceiling from.

Any ideas. I don't want to make a bracket, and would like to buy something that I can move the 2 hanging parts around, so I can make sure they are level with tank.

Something that I can slide, or move the 2 brackets that have to hang from the ceiling....

Thank you,

Reefomam,

I bought the compatible to this from Current. Using what you shown, I am looking for a track to take what you show, to mount on celling, and then be adjustable in all directions...

Russ.

I saw this, but am looking for mounting the fixture from the ceiling. The problem, is that I can not hang it level and straight. When, I hung my last fixture, it was not mounted directly on center. Even though, I tried to do it correctly... Then, when I moved my tank a bit, it was even more unlevel....

Thank you,

In order to properly hang the fixture from the ceiling over your tank, you'll need to use a plumb bob (or the laser equivalent). What this does is transfer a point from the brass plumb bob to the ceiling so you can mark the spot and install the mounting hardware.

Russ,

I actually did this and did a cr@ppy job. Also, sometimes I move tank for maintenance. I put a plastic carpet runner under heavy tank, and on rare occasions am able to slide tank. However, as you can see, I would like a track unit on ceiling so I can make adjustments...

Using a plumb bob does require a certain finesse that comes with practice, so I can see how you might not do a good job the first time around.

Now, as for moving your tank for maintenance.....I highly, very highly, super very highly suggest you don't do that anymore. You've obviously been successful doing this up until this point in time. However, the law of averages will continually creep up on you and the result could very easily be catastrophic. JMO

Russ,

Good or bad, I have a faucet and drain behind my tank. In the past, my faucet over 15 years old had broken and I had no choice but to move tank, so plumber could solder pipes, etc.

What I do, to move such a heavy object, is to lower water to about 2/3 rd tank. Then, empty sump as best as possible and then, slide tank. Not done too often, but the plastic carpet runners over tile, do the trick. I literally, can slide the tank, with "much effort". It has been very useful to do this on rare occasions. One time, I had a bad electric outlet that I had to get to, etc.

As you said, I try very hard not to do this, however, having the ability to not have to break down tank, has it's advantages. This tank was purchased in 1986, so it is very old...

Totally, agree, not something I do, unless in an emergency...

Well I don't know if I'm understand you correct, you want to be able move your light to the front and back of you tank just in case? Or left/right front/back?
If front and back only you can get track from home depot for small halogen lights is there spot to fit aluminum piece, all you have to do is attach track to the ceiling drill small hole in aluminum piece and make thread for your hanging kit. You gonna be able to move your fixture then ;)

The problem as I see it, is I am trying to center 48 inch light over tank and if I am slightly off, then, I can adjust light to fit correctly over tank. Also, in rare occasions, tank is moved, and I still want light centered correctly, even if tank, is not located exactly as before..
