Hi,

I just got an ASM G6x and it's really awesome BUT I wanted to add a drain hose from the collection cup to a 5 gallon bucket BUT I'm afraid to drill into the cup for fear of it cracking all up. I couldn't afford to do that.

I've searched for several days to see a thread on-line to see if anyones done this and how but all I ever find are the gate valve mods and recirculation mods.

If anyone has done it and can tell me how, first to drill the cup w/o busting it and and how to install the fitting, where on cup and what type and size of fitting and what type of bit to use. I thought of melting a hole but that scares me too. I'd really appreciate it.

BTW, the hose in pic was a temporary rig. Replaced it with the gate valve mod.

I do not think I would try it. The cup and neck on these skimmers are cheap plastic. Melting probably be the safest way. Find a rod the diameter you want and heat it up, melt it through and quickly run under cold water to set it.(just make sure to remove the rod before cooling).

Yep, I'm definately afraid to try it. These cups for a g6 are expensive. I cannot believe that asm does not include the drain fitting. It's really ridiculous as most smaller akimmers have them.
Thanks for the reply. Still looking for somebody who has actually done this so I can find out how.
