Go AI Sol Blue. They can be controlled white to blue, and have sunrise sunset features. The pucks are changed easily and are upgradeable. Their firmware is also upgradeable Also, from what I have seen on the BB's is that their customer service is great. Plus, made in the USA. The price overall is not that much more. Worth it IMO.

Using the Maxspect you will save less than $50 per unit. I do not see the savings. Good luck.

To cover a 48in tank you need 4 units that cost $2400 were the maxspects you only need 2 that will cost $1700 that $700 saved and can you change the bulbs with diffrent color led i dont think so and you have a choose of 60 deg optices or 90 deg the maxspects unit is cheaper and more plug and play the the AI unit.

Sorry about the dead link, thanks for posting the right one!

The price is suppose to be $999 per unit. 48" tanks will use 2 units. One of the many big advancements is the introduction of a natural moving sun slowly traveling across the tank. Linking 2 or more units will give an awesome effect. Check out in YouTube under reeftech LEDs and you will see a demo of the basic board showing moving sun, color control, and lighting storm effects.

The new G3s will be more than the G2. So $1700 is for 2 G2 units. My guess is it will be closer to $2,000 for the two G3s, maybe more. The 4' AI units are $2250. I have also seen that the Maxspects have had more problems than the AIs, at least on the BBs. I have also seen that AI has great CS. One person even partially submerged his unit and AI fixed it as if it were a warranty fix and only charged shipping.

the coverage isnt even close, the maxspect covers alot more then the ai hefe have u seen or owned either or ?
I have seen the new AI sol blue with the 70* optics on the edges and it's coverage is pretty decent. I saw 2 of them over a 48" tank, but they were mounted about 12" to 14" above the water. Even at that height the SPS looked great midway in the tank.

I do admit I have not seen the Maxspects in person, but I have seen numerous photos on the web.

I went PAR38s over my 125, and would have gone AI, but the 6' unit was out of my price range. If I had a 48" tank I would have gone AI.

< has owned both AI and the maxspect, if $ wasnt a issue id say the AI cause of the controllability,, as for maxspect there really wasnt issue's some wire's loose upon shipping 2 g2160 will cover a 4' tank and even if you add the reflectors and lense's your $1400 fins and reef i do believe is the u.s distributor, personally id the the g2 110w, only thing boosting the 160 is the 2 30w led chips so if you dropped to the 110w version at $430 apiece and a $100 apiece for the lense and reflector kit your only $1060 into the fixtures
