So wanted to share some experience with swichting bulbs on my 120 gallon reef tank I run 3 250 watts de metal halide system from aqua-medic ,the ballasts are magnetic pushing each bulbs to fire at 320 watts so making difficult to choose the bulbs that has the right color and lasts goos amount of time! I just got for the first time a 20k pulse rite bulb replacing the more expensive xm 20k de 250w usually running@ $ 75 a piece, so put it on this morning and have to say lot brighter looks more like a 12k bulb it's running next to my other 2 14k ushio de 250w about 5 weeks old, ushio bulbs on my ballast seems to be very white not yellow nor blue or light blue the pulse rite almost as bright with nice blue tone to it now need to see how long it goes on these ballast!!
