Looking at either:
(2) Pacificsun 120w Black Python
or
(2) Maxspect G2 160W
On the fence and would like to make a decision soon.
Both seem nice just don't know if programmability of PacificSun is really worth the added $$$$
Also wondering if salt spray is an issue with either.

I think the 120W PacificSun only uses 1W LED's. I think there is a 160W Pacific Sun which uses the 3W CREE LED's which would make it a more accurate comparison IMO.

But if you're only looking at the 120W PS vs 160W Maxspect, I might lean towards the maxspect.

Saltcreep is determined by how close to the water they are mounted, and how much splashing you have.

I didn't know that about the 120w models,160w is a better comparison. But now we are talking $1000 difference in price!
I don't get much but do get a little splash, wondering these fixtures hold up.

I have the pacific sun 160W with 3w CREE LED's . 1 master and 2 slaves i had a canopy built to house them and keep them above the water about 5" and get no splash or salt creep at all, i have had these lights set up now since june and have seen nice coral growth and a 55.00 a month savings in my electric bill. love the pacific suns, just my 2 cents

From what I read the maxspect G3 with controllable functions and multi chip LED's is supposed to hit the market in Dec. Might want to look into it.

The PacSun model is real nice for the price and performs very well, but the quality of the fixture itself doesn't compare to the maxspect which is what your paying the $$ for.
