I'm thinkn about purchasing a used bak pak skimmer. Anyone recommend these? With or without mods...or steer clear of this simmer. I need one that can hang off the back, its for my new 20g long simplest tank.

Yeah.. I read up on a few mods, thats why I was asking.. people say that the stock rio pump is awful.

I've used about every crappy skimmer out there at one point.

I started with a Visi-Jet. Not sure if it ever skimmed anything.
Then I got a SeaClown. Modded the hell out of it and it was only marginally better than the first one.
Moved on to a Prizim. Not as terrible as the others, but needed constant adjustment.
Finally got a Bak Pak and saw that a HOB skimmer could actually skim.
Got a Remora and loved it. Then I switched to a sump and never got another HOB.

Edit: I forgot about a Coralife skimmer I had for awhile... It flooded my apartment because it was finicky about the adjustment. Would never touch one of these again.

Yeah.. thats the way I see it.. haha.

The only thing I think that is not overkill worthy is heaters.

Next... I need heater recommendations..hahaha.

I remember reading a thread somewhere on here saying NO heater is reliable... :-\

I've run a Bak Pak on my 60g heavily stocked tank for nearly 10 years. With the latest pump it kicks a**.... but I would go with the Aero Force that have now, that replaced the Bak Pak for me :)
