I was lookign for a way to mount my LEDs so I could raise them eaily for tank maintenance. Came up wth lots of ideas but finally decided to mount inside my canopy (which I haven't used in years) and use a linear acutator to raise/lower the whole canopy. Best of all it comes with a remote control...

So I had to build a frame to hold the LED units (PacSun BT-EX)

And seal the screws to make sure they don't rust on my.

So the frame was almost set:

But needed to make sure the LEDs didn't slide into the tank while lifting, so we added some pegs that fit the holes in the bottom:

So it looks like this:

But the power supply cords are too short when lifting the unint so need to mount them to the canopy

Ending up as:

Now to hang them Hmm. Joists are'nt line up so:

OK, let's get this puppy mounted and check it:

The ropes are temporary. They will be replaced by cable very soon. But so far this works great. I can lift the canopy 30" off the tank to do tank maintenance or take top down photos. It takes less than a minute to raise the entire canoopy.
