I know that MH fixtures spread light out pretty well. For example, the relatively small PFO Pendant that I have easily covers the 24 x 24in square tank.
What about with T-5's? Let's say you have a 4 foot tank.. would a 3 foot fixture work? How far does the light actually reach? Obviously there will be a significant reduction in PAR, but at what point does the tank appear darker visually? Let's assume that you can raise the fixture up to 16 inches or more off the water..
