The nac7 can do a heavy bioload of 120g to 180g low bioload scw cones are more money then the nac7 and you get a spare mesh wheel. A friend of ming has the nac7 and it only been 4 days and its putting out some nasty nog . were thing of mod this skimmer with a Sicce Pumps with a mesh mod then the Red Demon Pinwheel and see whats happens.http://www.aquariumspecialty.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=29_501

the swc 160 cone are only about $20 more than the nac7, but it has a gate valve and a bigger bubble plate. So it's a battle between what you think is better of the two in regards to features versus price.

also i dont think putting a sicce on a nac7 is a good idea. The sicce will pull so much more air than the nac7 can handle

Im knot saying that the nac7 is better the swc are great but the 160 only does Heavy Bioload 90g and the 120 Heavy Bioload 50g the one that does amlost as the nac7 is scw Mini S Heavy Bioload 150g and it cost $379.99 compared to the nac7 thats only $249

the bioload numbers are usually never right anyways. But you can compare the 160 and the nac7, they basically have the same foot print and use the same pump.

nac7:
mesh wheel
a bit cheaper in price
wider neck

swc 160 cone:
needle wheel
gate valve
bigger bubble plate

so it's up to you to decide what you think is the better fit for you ;)

Thanks for the feedback guys, but I have limited amount of space. I have about 22.5" to spare for height. Which one you think will be better since I hold alot of fish and they come and go often?

Are you still comparing the NAC7 and the Octo? Either one would be fine, IMO. (Although that's only comparing numbers and reading tons of reviews, not personal experience).

Why don't you check out the NAC7 because I'm more curious about that one :teeth:

i been thinking of a new skimmer for maybe....2 months now. i was told by NYreefnoob that the vortec is amazing and i agree, but he also reccomended this NAC7. ive been doing nothing but reading reviews and watching videos on it and i gatta had it to bubble magus....they make some incredible skimmers. this is the skimmer im getting. 249 online is the most common price. found a few other sites from 170-220 but there ALWAYS out of stock. im waiting for a company to have a blow out sale on them then im getting it... seeing i dont NEED to get a new skimmer at the time and would just like to get a more afficent skimmer, im going to wait to find a sale day for a site. ill let you know if i come across anything. i did find a few videos on youtube and a few other sites. took forever to find on youtube. everyone has videos of the nac6. if i find them again ill post them for you!
