anyone know who could fix a t-5 setup quickly and cheaply.having a problem with 2 of the 4 bulbs not turning on.please dont tell me what the problem is or how i can fix it cause i am electrical illiterate.would like it to be done in a couple of hours.if it needs parts i would like to keep it over my setup till it comes in.i know nobody who could lend me a 36" t-5 till its fixed.2 bulbs are better then 1.thanks

you sure 1 bulb isnt burnt out,1 bulb on mine blew and the whole section wont turn on,try using the bulbs that work in the section that dont and see if it works,if it does than all u need is a new bulb

If that doesn't work, then its most likely the ballast. I say most likely because the only other possibility is that something is loose and not connected, either a wire or socket, but thats usually not the case.

Hey if you wasnt so far i couldve taken a shot at it because I have fixed a couple lights in the past i would tell u to switch the ballasts around to test the other side of the unit but like you said u are an electrical illiterate lol but I am sure someone close by can help u

I'd replace the endcaps on the problem bulbs first since that's the cheapest way to go. If that doesn't work you need to decide whether you want to buy another ballast or just get a new light. They're pretty easy to take apart and re-wire. Just unplug it first ;)

switch the unlit bulb with the 1 that lights up if it lights in the other socket it's not the bulb obviously and if not try fiddling w/ the end caps again if that doesn't work it might be them but originally I was thinking the ballast. I have a 48" fixture I could let you borrow if anything.
