Guy and gals...

Any suggestions on prepping old equipment for use. More specifically, my Chiller. Should I run anything through it for cleaning purposes? just clean mixed-saltwater, freshwater, maybe vinegar/water?

I want to make sure I am not going to reintroduce and of my old issues into a newly setup tank. so I am cleaning everything the best I can. I'm running my pumps in 5 gal buckets of tap water (chlorinated) to help kill off any potential bad things. I'm soaking my plumbing (pipes and connectors) in buckets of tap water.

Should I fill the tank with tap and let it sit then empty it before filling with RO/DI water?

Also, the coraline algae that is oon the overflow and cutting board bottom of the tank, do I need to remove all that? it is now completly dry... again, trying to avoid introducing nasties to my new setup.

Thanks!

Rich

Welcome back....

I ran diluted acid solution thru my system components to clean them out. This was done with tap water while leak checking the plumbing. System was flushed again with tap water before filling with RO/DI.

The coraline will "melt" away on its own with the low PH.
