I'm buying a new skimmer and narrowed it down to 4 brands. Anyone have any experience with these or any good or bad feedback thanks. 1 Reef Octopus needled wheel. 2. Eshops skimmer 3. ASM mini G skimmer 4. Marineland 300 skimmer. Any info would be appreciatted thanks.

For what it's worth I have the asm-g2 on my 135 running in a 30 gAllon sump soon to be 60 and I love it. Pulls out thick stuff and relatively easy to setup.

The tank will be a 65 gallon, I would say moderately stocked as in corals, maybe an SPS or 2. Im not to crazy for them anyways. And as for fish it will have a pair of clowns, a six line, orange spot goby and a small hippo. Will probably add a small angel to it as well. or some other fish. And probably a 20 gallon sump at the least.

i personally love the vertex, ive had alot of skimmers over the yr's and it has been my favorite so far, i had the vertex in 180 on my 80g + 15g sump and it was just too much skimmer, id say the vertex in 100 would be perfect for that system and the price in nice as well, im not a fan of the asm, cheaply made and the seals always end up leaking until salt creap fills it.

i agree with NYreefNood. the vertex has great reviews by alot of people.

my buddy has the octopus and loves it. my other buddy had the marineland skimmer and liked it alot but it, but he liked his kent natulis more (so he claims). call me crazy but my simple coralife skimmer is great for the price. i can barely dump the stuff out of the colection cup because its almost a solid. works great. my other tank has a aquac remora and i love that one too. kinda pricey but worth it, you can never cheap out of your skimmer.

The aqua remora I though was a HOB skimmer? I have never heard anything good about coralife till now lol. I also have heard tons of good things about the octopus skimmer, and it would be a lot cheaper than the vertex

im sorry i ment urchin. yeah coralife was kind of the cheap brand before that could practically be sold at wal mart haha. but if you go to oceanic's website, everything by coralife is now on there. actually if you ask a new member on here with his sn stoopid had been doing salt for 9 years or so and a personal friend, he has never had a different skimmer and reccommended it it to me awhile back and he was right. for the price i was like ehh and the fact that its coralife did not help. but i just got a brand new one 2 weeks ago. new box. instead of the yellow and red its dark blue and white like ther bottles now. it is great. the first night had a whole cup filled with discusting protein.

the octopus is kind of bulky, but thats the only bad thing. my buddy, when i asked about it awhile ago he said he is never going back to any type. good price and the outcome was great. he found his on ebay for like 100 bucks with pump new and loves it

I have been doing this for about 16 years but I have been running a smaller tank skimmerless, and the new tank I want to run a skimmer, I use to use the actual Berlin brand skimmers but they have cracked from time being spent in the attic. So they are no good anymore and Im not to familiar with all the new skimmers. I saw the Octopus has the largest footprint, but it might be worth it lol. i was looking at the Vertex 180 for cheap but it is way to large for my tank and the sump. Are the new Coralifes still the same price?
