phosphate removers

Very informative article Richard.Can you use these phos. removers continuously to keep phosphate levels constant?If not how often would you recommend changing them.Also when you sandwiched the products (Rowaphos,Phosban) between the filter media did you use a mesh bag or was the filter media you used enough to keep them in place?Thanks.
