HQI & Fans

Can anyone give me a technical reason why you are not supposed to run fans on HQI bulbs? I know that HQI bulbs are said to run there best when hot. My concern is that by not fanning them you run into the possibillity of burning up your wires. Isn't the normal rating for wiring in fixtures around 105 C?

And is there really a difference in the light output by placing a fan into the fixture?

Gee, I hope not cause my HQI fixtures have fans in them. That would suck. I do notice that most others dont' have fans.

Dont worry, I have spoken to both Hamilton and PFO and both use fans on there systems. I had Hamilton call the factory in Germany and according to them there is no reason to not fan them

Thanks, I was curious by previous post, but not too worried because my acros and other corals seem to like them w/ the fans running.
