I'm interested in building a 20 gallon sump. I've already ruled out using a rubber-maid container or a glass aquarium. I plan on using acrylic and would appreciate any links or advice on design and best places to get parts etc.
thanks.

I've built 2 sumps and 2 refugiums out of acrylic, plus a few other things...

The first time I used a square and books as props and weight to make the glue joints square.

The second time I bought clamps, (good investment btw, I've used them a lot since.) and it made things go a lot quicker.

One good tip is make sure you have straight cuts and that everything is lined up. After that it's simple, run the glue in the joint let it dry and harden for a minute or so and move on to the next.

My current sump can be seen at:

This one shows when the water is low.

These photos aren't exactly flattering but they do show the premise of it all. It's approx. 60g when full, and does a great job of removing the bubbles from the water.

The three partitions are very close together.. just a few inches.. this turned out to be rather annoying as I have a hard time getting my hands down to the bottom.

bish..
