Cleaning old Equipment

What is the best method to clean the white crusty residue off of old equipment. I have an old CPR BAKPAK that really needs a cleaning...

try viniger and water and use an old credit
card to gently scrape off white stuff, helps
to soak equipment in warm water for awhile first, not easy stuff to get off in some cases ! remember to rinse well after.

Try muratic acid. You can find it at any home improvement store. This stuff werks the immediately. I have found vinegar takes too long

Try using javex...
i'm not kidding, it works very well,
just make sure you rinse.

I have a friend who used to own a coffee shop. He was always buying citric acid crystals to clean his machines. I suspect Javex has a good deal of citric acid, which should loosen up and help remove the grunge. Same is probably true of vinegar, which is acetic acid.
It looks like you have this pretty well figured out, though...
