try viniger and water and use an old credit
card to gently scrape off white stuff, helps
to soak equipment in warm water for awhile first, not easy stuff to get off in some cases ! remember to rinse well after.
I have a friend who used to own a coffee shop. He was always buying citric acid crystals to clean his machines. I suspect Javex has a good deal of citric acid, which should loosen up and help remove the grunge. Same is probably true of vinegar, which is acetic acid.
It looks like you have this pretty well figured out, though...
