Media Reactors

Looking to replace the bag of carbon/gfo I have sitting in my tank (because it's ugly, doesn't perform as well as I'd like, and attracts too much salt creep near the top of the tank).

I haven't been paying too much attention to equipment in the past year or two. What's out there? The Reactor needs to be small and able to sit inside the tank (not a HOB or in sump type model). I'm not interested in the TLF or the BRS models.

Thoughts on the Next Reef, Avast, or Innovative Marine? Or others?

I like the avast, cheap and easy to assemble. Have it running my biopellets. Tlf I have in the sump in case of leaks

Avast is $80. May as well get the next reef or IM reactor at that point

Avast you built cost me 60$. I actually have both and like the avast quality better than nextreef

I have both. Avast and next reef. I will say the avast seems to have slightly thicker acrylic. Both are excellent quality tho. You can't go wrong either way.

Reactor

I'm running a BRS w/GFO pretty easy to setup, load the media and get running. I just bought an IM Mini- Max medium size to run carbon in. Looks very easy to setup, has a bottom mounted pump which provided ease in running it. I'll be setting that one in my sump tomorrow.

Update on IM Reactor

Very simple to setup, took a little playing with the pump adjustment to get the right amount of flow. I like that it's small and the pump is very silent. So far I love it.

yeah the IM Nuvo reactor was the one at the top of my list, due to size, reviews, and the fact that it's inside the tank.
