I setup my Apex Lite, it's really making thing easier.


I want to be able to monitor my tank at work, has anyone programed there Apex to be accessed outside their local LAN
If so, how secure is it, is it an easy code for a hacker to get into?

I have it is easy. I use changeip.com it gives you a URL and everything. It can be password protected through your apex. It only costs me 13$ a month.

Assuming your router has NAT and ip forwarding you can set it up for free - that's how I have mine. If you have an Apple router I can help.

I got it working. My concern is someone hacking into, they potentially could do a lot of damage.

Do you have a lot of enemies? It certainly isn't the most secure but they would have to know your WAN then port scan and then run a program to crack the code even though it is only 4 digits. Just seems like a lot of work for little reward unless they really wanted to ruin your tank.

Some things that I did on my own APEX (Internet accessible obviously):

1- change the password! And use a strong one!

2- do not use the default port since anyone scanning on http:// will be directed there.

ps: I wish they would use https for something that sensitive...
