Need an ATO

What do you fine Ladies and Gentleman Suggest. Im looking at the JBJ since its in my current price zone. What do you guys have? what do you guys suggest? Anyone have experience with the JBJ?

Nothing special. Whatever fits. Currently using a Petco, $15 pump.

I have one from autotopoff.com too. Knock on wood - never had any issues with it. I have the 1 sensor unit and a toms aqua lifter pump.

Hmm, is there yet an ATO that can deal with power outage recovery automatically?

Perhaps thru a controller and the older fashion ATO that way if you're on vacation and power cuts off, it won't shut itself off permanently or alarm just because the sump level rised temporarily after outage?

everything is ok, after re-reading the article it isn't quite clear, but I can't imagine you have to 'reset' it once power returns for it to start working again, which is one way to read the article.

You do have to reset it if the water level rises above the sensor. From my understanding its not the only unit that has issues like that...but I'm not 100%

I use the smart ATO in my office tank and love it. I have used quit a few ATO in my time. I would rather deal with an annoying alarm then a flood or drop in salinity. I really like the self fail alarm, if too much water goes in, it shuts its self off. It's small, out of the way and works. The pump works flawlessly and every bit of 6 feet that little pump will push water.
Just because some blogger post about a quirk on the units operation and to take that as gospel, is a little unfair.
I would put the smart ATO up against any ATO avast, tsunami, JBJ, ATO.com Even the DIY. It's easy setup. It's a Ron popeil ATO, set it and forget.

Yes if water level is above the eye by the time is resets it will fail it's self. It plays a nice little song in a chime tone not some loud obnoxious alarm just enough to get your attention.
