Halide Bulb Color Opinion

Just curious what you guys thought about the bulb color.

First pic is the infamous 400w Radium 20k with 4x T5's (2x Blue Plus, 1 fiji purple, 1 Aqua blue special)

Second Pic is a 400w Reeflux 12k with 4x Blue Plus T5's


The tank is kind of new so many of the corals are still coloring up. Pics are taken with iphone5.

Running Lumatek eletronic ballast. Running on the 400sl setting (overdriven)

i like the 12k especially since your using light additives already

I like #2 as well. Without supplements the Radium would no doubt be the choice.

I would rather have the reeflux 14k. Better color and more par than both bulbs. Radium better for coloring up corals, Ushio better for growth. Depends on what you are going for! You like seeing bright colors in the tank with fast growth. Go with#2

I personally use 2 400W Radium 20K bulbs on my 120. I tried 14K but I feel the colors in my coral pop more with the 20K so I went back. The tank looks great with either tho! Good luck!

Radium with a good e ballast SE only. no additional t5 needed
