Sump Evaporation Question

argggg, why mu8st evaporation be such a PITA.

I have a 10g sump with a 4 inch return compartment... it seems to be evaporating at a very quick level. I am running a 2x18w T5 and a 65w Actinic light over an open top 29g. Evaporation is happening at about 1/4 -1/3 a gallon a day-ish. is this normal? how quickly do you guys have to top off? any INEXPENSIVE auto top offs you guys recommend?

+1... I get about 2-3 gallons of evaporation everyday in my 450 gallon system. Any top off system works. I use a very basic float switch that turns on a powerhead in my top off container to fill the sump.
