I got a used RO filter thrown in with the tank and when I finally got a TDS meter I was shocked to see it puts out more TDS than the tap.

My tap is 40 TDS.
After the carbon chamber it is 47 TDS

My RO water is 47 TDS
My waste RO water is 70 TDS

1. What should I replace or should I get a new RO filter altogether? This one is a kent marine Hi-s

2. What should I use meanwhile, tap water? ITs a fish only tank with only a huge leather coral, the guy said he had this for 6 years and had a maintenance company come once a month. I looked on the invoices and they were billing him for regular RO Carbon, DI cartrige changes, now i am not sure if they were changing them.

Thanks

It does not make sense, why are you measuring TDS after carbon only? And in any case I would't use someone's filters without changing them first. You don't know what TDS reading was at the previous owners house. My friends live in NJ and their tap water is in 300's.
Get replacement filters, membrane and DI resin. Your tap at 40 is not that bad, mine is in the 30's and after RO I get 1-2 and 0 after DI. Don't use tap in your tank.

P.S. How is the Sea Hare? :)

Do you recomend just to change everything out in my used RODI or get a new RODI altogether? It seems to me that a new one would be $120 and to replace everything would be $70-$100 do you recomend any filter in particular?

Not sure how good Kent Ro unit is, I think it's a good one(maybe someone else will chime in). Register with BRS and just get new ones I personally like their filters. Maybe there will be a Group buy here soon so you can save few $'s. if you order over $175 shipping is free.
