You can make this a lot easier for you instead of all the pvcs.

the return pump on your 10G will be inside or outside? if inside you can just use a pvc pipe and measure how high the tank is from the sump. you can always have a hang on pvc connected to your tank with a ball valve to control the flow depending on the side pump you use. i would go with a mag 3 or any other pump that's between the 300-400 gph. if you have have your tank drilled and put a 3/4 bulk head as your drains that's going to be coming down to your sump. i will try yo draw you a picture if you don't understand me lmk first

yes the return pump will be in the sump, maybe im confused but iv never seen a return pump outside of the sump before? even so, the pump I have is a maxi-jet 900 and it says 230maxgph powerhead mode, and 1000maxgph circulation pump mode. my LFS said this was the right pump? the end of it cannot attach to a PVC but fits a 1/2 vinyl hose

My tank cannot be drilled, I did my best to illustrate, but I will be using the Eshoppes nano overflow box that comes with a 3/4 bulkhead attached.
