Using a TLF 150 in a nano reef - Problems, no tumble...help

Short story, my phosphates are off the roof and i am starting to run gfo...


I bought a TLF 150 and a Maxi Jet 600 along with some ROWA PHOS


Anyways i set up the reactor and got it running, around 5 minutes after i turn it on and look to see if the media is tumbling and it isnt. maybe 1-2 ganules are actually moving...


is this because there is such a little amount of media? for a 20 gallon system i figured that i could only add a very small amount - around 6 teaspoons...

or is it because the 600 is not enough flow? im running the 600 with like 4 inches of tubing to the reactor...


Am i doing something wrong here? i set it up to match the photos and removed all air bubbles. the reactor is level and the valve is completely open.

when i regulate it to 20-30 i get no movement at all...

Am i missing something lol? or is this just a poor choice for my tank?

For BRS gfo it's about 1tablespoon for every 8 gallons. Start off lower than higher. You don't want too much flow for the GFO. Just the top part of it tumbling.

I think the pump is too small. I had the TLF 100 with a maxi 900 and ran it on 100 gal total volume system. I only had the valve open half way.

+1 I had the 600 and it was problematic.

For a few dollars more the 900 is much more reliable.

I think the 600 is fine. I use the mini 400 and mini 600.
