help, super reef octopus 1000...

i have a reef octopus 1000, with the bubbleblaster 1000 pump... i can not get this skimmer to function in the sump and its driving me nuts, how can i find out the propper depth of water its suposed to be in to function, i have it sitting on a few pvc caps to rais it up. it is now only sitting in 3" of water and it is still overflowing the cup even with the gate valve completely removed so it has the most exit flow. with it on it is even worse, having it sitting on the caps is obviously unstable and it tips over.

so basically all this is doing is just super airating my water but not scimming anything bc of the overflowing right back into the sump.

please help, i cant find anything on google or the manufaturers sites abt setting this thing up propperly.. ive never had a problem like this with skimmers before!!!:banghead:

did you clear out the air intake, sometimes their is salt creep

its brand new rich, im ready to throw it thru the wall lol

i finally got the 92g corner up and running fully got the skimmer bc i heard nothing but great things abt how ell it works and ..... lol

running water level for that skimmer is 5.5"

pull the venturi hose out and see if you can blow in it, it sounds like something is blocking air flow., Also it takes about 2-3 weeks to get that baby tuned.

its sitting in 3" and still overflowing... its almost out of the water.. does that make sence? and the airation is definitly working if i block the air inlet the bubbles stop and the level drops its just the airation thta makes in go insane.. im not dosing anything right now either that might make it go nuts

See if their is anything from the output side, maybe something crawled in their

check that the gate valve is moving up freely.
