i just got a new SWC BMK 150 Protein Skimmer and i am having a little problem i have the skimmer sitting in about 9 inches of water the company reccomends 7-10 inches the water doesnt even make the beginning of the neck of the collection cup, its a 20 gallon long so 9 inches is as deep as i can go right now would 1 inch really make the differance for this or does the skimmer need to break in and slowly start to rise

you can close the valve to raise the bubbles and generally it takes about a month or so for it to really break in, and dont do adjustments everyday, let it run in a spot for a few days then make minor adjustments

ok i have the valve half way closed and it raised the water level a little bit. so just let it run like that and see if it will rise? also is it possible that my tank might not have a big enough bio load for this skimmer to evne run right now. i have a 75 gallon 20 gallon sump with 5 fish. blue spot puffer, hoevens wrasse, mystery wrasse, scooter blenny, lyretail anthias also have some corals

If the skimmer is not pulling anything then there might be something wrong with the pump, I have the swc 250 1a after 10 months of use it broke down, presure in the skimmer droped like 80% fully closed water only goes up half way :(
I called swc to see whats with warranty they said boss be back end of November :(
they cant do anything til he gets back .
I took the pump apart to see if i can fix it and found rusty screws :(
call them up , no help
So I Bought brand new askoll 1500 pump had it shipped over night and today it came !!! surprize !!! wrong pump !!!

If its a new skimmer, it will take some time to break in. Second there is an dial that allows u to run more or less air into the chamber. Less air will run the skimmer wet and more air will run it more dry. For now I would start it of with less air.
