Anyone have any opinions on Coralife Pumps? I am starting to get a list ready for my 75 rimless and a friend of mine has a new Coralife pump that he is not using.

It is the Turbo Sea 1090, it looks pretty good to me, has a nice amount of head on the pump, and Since my sump will be in the basement should do the job....

Don't know much about pumps. But that looks good with that head flow rating.
Running a triton 4 on my 75 rimless in the cabinet. Great flow, have my reactor fed from it also.
Just picked up a 2nd mp40 also...

I am hoping to get away with 1 mp40.. Or may just add a Korilia (sp) if i need. But the rockwork that I am planning to make, I might be ok with just the 1.

Not sure exactly how you are doing your plumbing, but is you have standard ceiling height in your basement (7-8') and then pump up another (4-5'). that would be (11-13'), without any restrictions.
The specs on that pump is only 13' of head. I don't think it's going to work.

Sump will be about 3.5 fet off floor and the height of the bottom of top of the DT is only 7 ft. The floor where the DT is is not the ceiling of the basement. If that makes sense. The plumbing will be going through the wall into the DT. I may even put the sump even higher. The 90 for the sump is already on standard height stand. And that will go up on a 2 foot platform. Will almos make the sump lose to floor level of the DT.

SO let me get this you are going to have a total of 10 1/2' of head, right.

HAHAAHAH I just read my response, I sent it from my phone, it was confusing..

I would say about 8-9 foot of head of straight run, might not even need any elbows, going to run flex for return, so may be a literal straight run to tank. But I am going to run reactors, but I will use a separate pump for them.

I just have to figure out my sump setup. I am thinking drain from DT will be in middle then fuge on left (looking at tank) and then return section on the right. I will probably split the drain so that I can get flow into the fuge section......

What you think Rich??

Lol, horizontal runs do not count for head pressure, If possible try going 1 size bigger than your pumps output, and then reduce at the point of entry into dt. When setting up your pump try using true union ball valves, a bit pricey, but well worth it, especially when you have to do maintenance.
As far as sump goes your idea is perfect, just split the drain with a t, and put a ball valve to regulate how much you want going into fuge. I like to run about 200-400 gph thru my fuge.
