Canister filter placement

Hi,

I have a Fluval G3 filter that I am going to run on my 18gal tank. My question is how far off to the side can the filter sit and still work properly. It will sit more than 24" below the water line but I am concerned that it might not work properly if the filter is 3' off to the side and the inflow/outflow tubes are positioned in more of a diagonal orientation rather than vertical.

Any info would be great.

It will work, but you will reduce the flow. Not significantly though, as soon as you don't exceed the maximum head height, you should be good. The best is to set it up and see if it'll reduce the flow or not.
