The probe is internal. It's about 4 degrees higher than actual DT or the sump temperature(84 vs 80). Currently, the reading is in sync with the DT (74/75 vs 74/75). The chiller was set to 76. What the XXX? If the chiller goes coco again, the system is semi doomed. But I cannot decide what to do-I cannot remove the chiller because it is hot but cannot let a wild chiller go up and down next 12 hours either. I also constantly monitoring the flow thru of the chiller, it has been normal since I finish the tank maintenance.

Last resort would be going air pump mode and turn off all lignts and powerheads until I get the replacement chiller if the temperature does not stablize.

Feel like fighting a nuclear melt down.

I need a reef controller to automate the safety measures!

Wingo, all you have to do is calibrate the chillers themostat to match whatever themometer that you think is most accurate, if your chiller has this feature.
You mistood what happened. The chiller's is running wild, not that is was not calibrated right, it is swing up and down and up again. If it's calibration it will be one direction but my case is "up and down", "up and down".

I think that exactly what happened last time. But this time, instead of it going crazy while I am away, I catch it in the act. The DT and the indicator is now 77. In 30 minutes, if the temperature goes to 78 I will have to shut all heat generating EQ and go to air pump mode.

I have a tradeswind chiller and it reads a degree less than my tank temp. The chiller controller is a ranco so I can calibrate it. The biggest issue I dont like is if you set it at 78 it has to go up to 79-80 before it starts. And you cant leave it on a 1 degree offset because of short cycling
