DIY Tank stand - Top

Thanks everyone for all the ideas on the center brace. I ended up adding a removable brace.

My next problem is to get the top of the stand flat. I am primarily concerned about the edge as that is where the tank will rest.

I was thinking of adding a thin layer of vinyl paneling and gluing it down with some poly construction adhesive. Once the glue sets a little I was planning on setting the tank on top and using its weight and rigidity to press out the high spots. It sits quite flat now, probably only off by around 1/32".

Any ideas or feedback?
