Wouldn't it be much cheaper to just make the plugs out of aragocrete? and have them cure like marco rock? To make the disc's you just pour the aragocrete into a solo sauce cup and let them dry. Toss em all into a bucket of old tank water and then just let em cure. You'd have a near lifetime supply with only a couple of pounds. I know one of the small frag plug/disc sellers in Boston does just that.

The aragocrete will still leach into your water. Once the ceramic is fired! Blammo! No leaching!

There is also 3D scanners out there, I know there is one on the market to work with Solid Works, but I think it is around 4,000.

Then once you have the drawing in solid works you need to put it through a CAM cutting program in order to produce the G code that is used by CNC machines. For this application you would want to use a CNC lathe with live tooling. A 50,000+ machine.

You will most likely need to make wax model and then burn them out in the mold in order to make the molds.

Substantial Investment!!!!

if you cure them for 4 weeks they should be pretty safe. People are using them without any problems, on the discs you can still see the imprints from the bottom of the solo cup and some discs you can even see the solo cup information.
